General Web Design Questions.
Who needs a web site? My business does fine without one.
Most businesses today realize the importance of having a presence on the
world wide web- that is why so many businesses have websites. If you have
a product to sell you have gone from selling it locally to selling it globally.
If you do not have a product to sell or if you are selling a service a web
site is a great way for people to learn more about you. From a PR stand
point, a website is an important tool to make people get familar with your
business and get a "warm and fuzzy feeling" before they have even
entered your establishment.
But what would I put on a website? Could I really fill up five pages
about my small business?
Like any small business I am sure you have all types of copy that could
go up onto the internet: brochures, a map to your location, pictures of
your establishment, a menu, the history of the product or service you
sell, your logo, specials or promotions, the possibilities are endless.
I can also help with writing copy for your web pages that is designed
to help bring in more visitors. More and more people are searching on
the internet for goods or services to buy, and many people now use search
engines to decide what local establishments they are going to patronize
before they get into the car and start driving. If you need help with
a logo or graphics I can do that as well.
There are lost of great uses for personal websites as well:
- Events-(Reunions, Weddings, Birthdays, etc.) Make distant family
feel like a part of things by posting pictures on your own web site.
You can even send out email invitations that lead back to a breathtaking
site with the time and date of your big day. Your RSVP form can be on
line so there is no excuses about "my RSVP got lost in the mail",
and imagine the money and time you will save by posting your pictures
online instead of sending out copies.
- Family Sites-These are a great way to keep family and friends updated
on what you are doing for a busy family. Post pictures, school or work
achievements. Update every few months and save time and effort.
- Resume- Keep an updated copy of your resume or portfolio online.
Simplifies life for artists, freelancers or anyone who works in a competitive
field.
On family sites I can also keep unwanted visitors out by adding pasword
protection.
